It’s well known by now that screens (you’re looking at one now!) provide so much stimulation and sensory input that we become distracted and unfocused. It changes our brains. I often feel untethered and scattered with my phone in hand; “Oh, what was I about to look up? Why did I go to this app? Oh wait, look at that…!” It goes on and on, and we’re not the much better for it. But still there are those precious, non-tech moments when, perhaps, we have a chance to daydream and reflect. It might be over something as mundane as doing the dishes that we relive a treasured memory or come to a difficult decision. Or we might just be spacing out, which is a good thing too.
